Today’s most-read news story on BBC: “RAF
Typhoon jets arrive in London to test Olympic security.” Great, lets publicise
on a renowned British news website that the ‘high-security’ planes are here….The
article goes on to tell the public where the planes are based (RAF Northolt),
technical specifications about the plane (1,370 miles per hour) , what dates
the trial will be running and the area of the trial. So what was the aim of
this article? Lets reveal to the public our plan of security to frighten them? No,
it will just tell terrorists/the British public how the sky is going to be
patrolled. So they will be reading this article thinking plane attacks are so cliché
plus I don’t want to get on the wrong side of one of those jets! Is there
really a need to publicises articles about British security at the games. The
less people know the better in my opinion. Look what happened when the British
army released a video of how great they are?
This gave Osama Bin Laden hope that he had
at least a good few years before he got caught.
In light with the news on the Typhoon jets, I have decided to share a song by Typhoon. Typhoon area great Indie band from America. Typhoon has taken the term band to new extremes and are referred to as an indie-folk orchestra. I came across them on a live session on NPR music and instantly fell in love with the vast range of instruments, coming together with a chilled calm composed voice of their lead singer. Discoveries of bands like Typhoon justifies the creation of this blog because this is definitely an undiscovered talent I stumbled upon by mistake. They have a few singles out but if you search them make sure you don’t get them confused with the Dutch rapper typhoon, unless you are into that genre. Today’s song is called Summer House and is about leaving a house with childhood memories; a story/song that everyone can relate to.
